This week (09-13 March 2020) was held the first module of the SITEX/ENSTTI training course on regulatory review and assessment of the safety case for disposal facilities.
As a reminder, this is the first module of a course of 3 modules.
Of course, you can register to each module you want or attend to the full course.
This first module provides a general introduction to the course and covers the safety and regulatory requirements for the safety case.
Moreover, some explanations about the licensing process for geological disposal throughout the stages of site development.
But also waste and disposal facility information needed for safety demonstration and for supporting research programs and activities.
In other words, this module deals with the safety case context, safety strategy, site characterisation and the facility description.
And the module was made up of presentations, exercises and key issue discussion sessions and was presented by internationally recognized experts from European nuclear regulatory authorities and organizations with an expertise function.
A general discussion terminated the training course, without forgetting the student’s feedback on the course to enable ongoing improvement of future training courses.
The second module will take place later in the year and will cover safety assessment methodology, radiological impacts and engineering and management systems.
Like, for instance, operational safety assessment, site and engineering assessment and post closure radiological impact assessment.
